Good for you F1Fanatic. However, I hope you are not driving it at this time of year. No real snow here in Toronto but I expect you have some of the white stuff in Ottawa. My 996 (2004) Carrera Coupe has been on insulated pads in my garage since November 1st and will not see the light of day until at least April 1st, 25. I too am an F1Fanatic but for the next 3 months I expect I will spend my time, other than Carpokes, reading Panorama, magazine of the Porsche Club of America as well as Provinz, magazine of the Upper Canada Region of PCA. The 996 is clean, waxed, full of gas and under a cover in my garage. I am now eagerly anticipating April 1st.
So, welcome to Carpokes and take advantage of all it has to offer.

Happy New Year everyone!
My name is Loo and stumbled across Carpokes finding Tom’s cam belt tension tool trying to avoid dropping $1k+ for the elusive P9201 tool at Pelican….
Semi-retired Aerothermochemist (“applied physics”).
Bought my first Porsche 924 in grad school (early 80s). After 2 years battling oil-pressure issues, I traded it in for a signal red 924S, which seemed to attract both sides of the law.
In 1989, I bought a Rose metallic 944 Turbo S with 1000 miles on it from a privateer who wanted to mod it for cup racing but was disgusted by all the weight (electric everything, airbags, 10 speakers etc) he had to remove. Have kept the car ever since.
Embarking on water pump, all water hoses, vacuum hoses and all seal replacement project on a car that has been kept bone stock apart from the Euro driving light mod.

The history stories from members are always fun and yours is no different. 35-years with your current 944 Turbo S is impressive Loo!944TurboS wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 1:22 pm Happy New Year everyone!

Thank you for the welcome!
My wife thinks I am married more to the Turbo S than her. When me moved in phases to FL, I “auto-train-ed” the car to FL and kept it in the garage for the year , until I moved down full time. My wife already started her job in FL and was asked to move the car so some workers could access the AC they were trying to work on. She doesn’t drive stick shift and ended up bumping into the garage door…She had the car flat bedded to the dealer to be checked out (nothing but some buffing of the bumper)., but never told me about it. When I went to visit FL the next month, the car was on the handbrake, which I never would do during storage and she had to confess….With a Porsche, details matter

Re the pecking order, I've been told the same thing regarding our dogs. She lets the order of where the Porsches stand in the household alone since she has one of her own to drive. (That was by design on my part - part of the sales/con job. Lol.)944TurboS wrote: Sat Jan 04, 2025 1:59 pm Thank you for the welcome!

Actually, the reality is that she's great about the cars and the doggies. We're all in it together!
