Impressive looking harness! Crazy question: does it come with the provision for the factory alarm?

Great video! Feel free to link to this thread and/or my write-up too in the description if helpful. Carpokes links out in the wild are good for the site. :)

I believe the firewall snorkel grommet is a Kroon replica. They list them separately as 'replicas' on their site (reasonably priced too). Interesting you were able to push the KLR tube through the grommet. There was a zero percent chance of mine going through that way, even with all the silicon in Hollywood. I did write to Kroon about it, so wonder if they increased the hole size a smidge?

That little flap was typically left in place by the factory for what it's worth -- just checked my old harness and two parts harnesses, and that flap is still there. Probably just cheaper and faster for the factory to leave it -- it clearly serves no purpose once the KLR tube is in place.

Curiously, my diagnostic port popped right into my bracket with none of the challenge you described. No real theory on why the difference...

I enjoyed the video, but was kinda expecting to see how you hooked up everything down in the footwell. Did you end up using the optional 90 degree fitting you showed? You also didn't mention that you purchased the optional MAF sensor engine harness, which is just a switched 12V wire running from the 14 pin connector up to the area of the factory AFM for use with an installed MAF sensor. I'm planning to use the F9T when (if?) it gets released.

I haven't taken my harness out of the box yet, just opened to sneak a peak at that beautiful work of art, ha, ha. Glad I got mine at a good exchange rate in late 2024 and pre-tariff stuff.

Just an update, I asked Kroon about the MAF power supply and if it was a fused circuit and if not, would it be advisable to add an in-line fuse. Here was their response:

It does not have a fuse and it might be good to add a simple inline fuse.
It comes from terminal pin 2 on the 14 pole connector and lead to an internal splice.
The MAF does not take much current, I guess 6 amps will be perfectly fine.

They make sure the harness is identical to what you had from the factory - down to the correct wire sizes and colors! So yes - there would be provisions for the alarm. They are very responsive to inquiries, so if you are interested it couldn't hurt to ask them just for peace of mind.

Thanks Tom! I'm still a little embarrassed about my videos. I hope as I get more experience they will get a little more professional looking. But hey - it's about DIY so why wouldn't that apply to the videos as well! I have linked your install thread in the video description.

I had also left that flap on my friends harness as well (installed about a year ago). I'm wondering if that made it more difficult to install with the flap putting some sort of side pressure or friction resistance on the KLR tube. I was shocked at how easily I was able to slide it through with some silicone spray. Once it started poking out the other side....it wasn't sliding easily anymore so I resorted to some plyers and just clipped off the "crimped" end.

I fought that diagnostic port....and I fought it some more...then some more. The magic of editing doesn't show how long it took me before I had to take drastic measures....

Thanks! I'll be showing the footwell wiring install in a future video. The main reason I'm holding off is to get everything connected in the engine bay - once the intake is in I can see how much of the KLR tube I need in the engine bay (I should have marked it with a sharpie) and if I have too much slack up top I can pull it through from the footwell.

As for the MAF wire - I got through all the editing and then realized I didn't even mention it at all. I wanted to get the video posted asap, so I'm planing to mention it on my next video when I try to get everything put back together. I'm going to try and do that this weekend, but it's supposed to be brutally cold here in NC this weekend (and 3-5 inches of snow) and I don't know if my little space heater will keep the garage warm enough for me to not question my life decisions.

I thought it was well produced -- way better than most! Either Kroon increased the size of that KLR tube hole, or I got an outlier. There was no way to push it through on mine...

Because I think there’s a difference between using those locations as support points vs jacking points. When you lift the car with quickjacks, you’re spreading the load of the car over 4 locations. When you jack the car from that location, you’re putting much more of a load on that specific location. I’ve been using the quickjacks for a few years on my 944s with no issues.

Those points in the front were used as the cars went down the assembly line at the factory, so they can handle at least some weight.
Thanks for the feedback. I've seen 968 owners use them on RL and always wondered if they did any damage. Do you recall which model QuickJack you have? And do you need to use any support blocks in the front or rear to get everything level?
I’ll do a specific video on my YouTube channel for this to show it.

Did you ever get a chance to capture a video of your QuickJack set-up?
