Rebuilding QuickJack Cylinders

For those of you with QuickJack portable car lifts, I recently had to rebuild the cylinders on my jacks due to leaky seals causing them to not lower the car evenly (a harrowing experience if you’ve never been there!).

There are a few places on the web that talk about how to rebuild the cylinders ...

Re: Kroon Harness for 944 Turbo

Maybe this has been asked and answered in one of these threads*, but are you running with both a stock O2 sensor and a wide-band? If so, then maybe the lean condition is just an intermittent WB sensor/controller/harness giving you the wrong reading sometimes?

Re: New PnP ECU option: ClassicECU Speeduino - build/learning thread

For closed loop idle, I think you need a PWM style IAC (such as is found on the S and S2) and I dont think the oem 951 IAC is setup that way (someone feel free to correct me if I am wrong here), since those still use a idle adjustment screw and idle isnt dynamically controlled with the ICV.

The ...

Re: New PnP ECU option: ClassicECU Speeduino - build/learning thread

Fun project! I’m down a similar path with my MicroSquirt-based ECU. Definitely lots of learning left to do on my part.

Looking at your plan, overall I think it will be a great educational experience, but the way you’ve mapped it out it seems like you’ll be doing a lot of re-tuning at various stages ...

Re: Microsquirt Coolant Temp Sensor setting

I just double-checked the engine temp readings on my car (86 951 with MicroSquirt) and confirmed that TunerStudio sees 81-82C when the needle is exactly in the center of the 80C line on the dash. This is with the stock Porsche temp sensor and the TunerStudio “BMW E30 325i” preset sensor calibration ...

Re: Microsquirt Coolant Temp Sensor setting

The "BMW E30 325i" preset in tunerstudio is what I'm using. The preset purportedly corresponds to the Bosch 0 280 130 026 sensor (datasheet here ), which is the same as the 944 sensor.

The temperature map for the “BMW E30 325i” preset is:

- 9300Ω = -10C
- 2500Ω = 20C
- 335Ω = 80C

which is roughly ...

Re: The 944 Handbook

I think this is a great idea, Tom! I'm a big fan of Clark's, but obviously it suffers from being frozen in time. I really wish it were possible to transform that site into some form of community-supported resource. There have been so many occasions where I've thought: I have the perfect picture to ...

Re: Weird Coolant Leak -HG?

After pressurizing to 14psi, coolant is just squirting right out between the head and block. :( Will need to sleep on next steps -- slap a new HG in there, rebuild the original 2.5, finish the monster 3L I started years ago.... or a gallon of Stop Leak maybe. 8-)

Booo! Sorry to hear that. What ...

Re: Weird Coolant Leak -HG?

Yikes! No chance its coming from the elbow hose that goes from the heater hard-line to the water pump?

What type of head gasket? Maybe the pressure test pushed the gasket out?

Re: Boost Gauge and other Dash gremlins

Yes, makes sense. The original engine harness has the flat black 8-pin connector that mated to the one left hanging in your car. When they swapped in the '86 ENGINE harness, they left in the '87 DASH harness, and didn't know how to deal with the wires in those mis-matched connectors, so just cut ...
