Front seal question

Hello everyone,
I have a question about the shaft seals on the front of the 2.5 na engine. I did a reseal last summer. ( balance shafts, cam shafts and crank) I noticed that the seals I took out were brown colored and had helix marks on them indicating directionality.
My question is, has anyone ...

Re: My new 944 ... and it's issues

Do yourself a favor as long as you have everything apart. Do a front seal job. Crank and cam seals. Also maybe cam seal races and onion seals. Not a lot of money but a good call if everything is apart. These cars are notorious for front end leaks.

Re: My new 944 ... and it's issues

I can appreciate the situation. Even though my 86 was babied, I have had similar scenarios as time goes by. Replacing virtually every rubber, plastic or fabric hose, cracked electrical connectors and rebuilding almost all the systems on the car over the years. Keep at it, don't give up, she'll be ...

Re: My new 944 ... and it's issues

Welcome to the club. It's an adventure. I've seen a lot worse. A lot can happen over 39 years. First you should get yourself familiar with Clarks Garage and download a service manual (available online) and PET. You're gonna need part number references and schematics as well as time, and patience. It ...

Re: Phone dial center caps?

Just for the record. I bought my 944NA new in 86. I have the phone dials, silver with center caps matching and no black in emblem. This was stock on my car.

Re: 944 Koni cut-a-strut inserts with older style struts?

Mcwine,
I have an 86 NA. A couple of years ago I did a front end rebuild and I used the Koni Cut-a-Strut units.
My stock struts were the oil and damper type( Rebuildable) not inserts. Had the screw cap on top.
I tried some inserts first but didn't care for them so I went to the Cut-a-Strut. I don't ...

Re: VIN look up for build info

Maybe get someone that's near the car to take a photo of the build option sticker if it's still attached. ( Behind carpet flap across back of cargo area)
